Rotary Manor
Rotary
Manor is the most significant community project undertaken by the Rotary
Club of San Rafael to date. Rotary Manor is a 99-unit low-cost senior
citizens housing complex on Fifth Avenue of San Rafael. Completed in
1983, Rotary Manor was developed and financed through the hard work and
creativity of the Club's Rotarians.
Our big push in 2004 is the Centennial project. The Centennial project is intended to construct a garden for the seniors that includes areas for them to plant whatever they choose in 26 planters, construct atria for shade and sitting, plant various fruit trees, provide gardening equipment, and other site amenities. The project is estimated to cost approximately $36,000. Our intention is to conduct fundraising activities over the next two years to fully fund the project. To date, irrigation plans have been completed and a Centennial Project committee has been formed: Jack Hunt is chair, Peter Levi, Laura O’Malley, and Kirby Veach are committee members.
Blood
Drive
Each year,
Rotarians organize blood drives to give the gift of life.
Drives are held in conjunction with the Blood Centers of the Pacific in the
San Francisco Bay Area. This year, 34 Rotarians donated blood in a
Club-wide drive.
