The project involved the labeling and distribution of dictionaries to third graders in our community. We labeled the dictionaries with a Rotary International nameplate with the RCSR name included also. On March 14, 2025, Rotarians delivered 70 dictionaries to 3rd grade students in 3 classrooms at Sun Valley Elementary School. On March 20, 2025, we delivered 62 dictionaries to 3rd grade students in 3 classrooms at Coleman Elementary School, The students are at a stage of learning when they are exploring the world through reading, interpretation and discussions. Rotarians visited the classrooms to talk with students and teachers about the importance of education, reading, and about Rotary's mission and the importance of community service and service-above-self all over the world.
Pres. Otis thanks Sherry Rogers, Diane & John Glischinski, Gary Phillips and John Feldmann, Pete Hurley for their service and Pres. Elect Matt Briggs for coordinating the projects this year. On March 14, 2025, Rotarians loaded and delivered dictionaries to the 3rd Graders at Sun Valley School. When one of the teachers asked a class “What is Rotary?” a student promptly piped up “it’s probably in the dictionary!” Another student, when writing his name on the bookplate, looked up and said "Thanks! My older brother got his copy two years ago. Great to have my own!" highlighting the ongoing impact of the program. Correspondence and pictures from the event and a thank you note are attached.

Pres. Otis also thanks Matt Briggs, Sherry Rodgers, and Pat Burke for assisting with the delivery of dictionaries to Coleman School on March 20, 2025.
